Martavius French of Memphis and Whitehaven High School made his college decision tonight by committing to the Hogs. French is a 6’2 235 Junior in the 2020 class and is rated a 4 ⭐️ on the 247sports composite. He had 16 total offers but the most notable of those are Arkansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Cincinnati.
French commits to the Hogs on his 18th birthday. Arkansas first contacted French on September 1, 2018 when the NCAA allows them to. In September, Arkansas’ lead recruiter, Canaan Sandy, showed up to a game, “Canaan is a cool guy,” French said. “He’s been there for me too. He’s the first college fan to come see me. That’s a lot of love and support from Canaan.”
It seemed like French had a great time at Prospect Day and many people thought he would have committed during March but continued to hold solid to his birthday.
In the 2018 season, French totaled 77 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and 1 interception. French is rated the 339th player in the class of 2020, the 14th ranked linebacker in the country and 11th rated prospect in the Volunteer State. Earlier this week, Arkansas gained the commitments of two other Tennessee prospects in linebacker, Drew Francis and athlete, Tyrece Edwards.
With the commitment of French, Arkansas moves to 30th in the 247 Composite rankings but remain 12th in the SEC.
