‘Twas the night before football National Signing Day and all through a chilly Natural State, 19,000 fans filled Bud Walton Arena and thousands tuned in on ESPN for a Super Tuesday matchup. Arkansas was in there second season under Mike Anderson with a freshman sensation, Michael Qualls, there to delight Razorback fans with high jumping, blockbuster dunks.
As I was reviewing the game I initially forgot about this game in the record books. This was a monumental game for Anderson as he was pushing the reset button on a Razorback basketball program that was quite dormant over the 10 years prior to his return. One of his promises to Hog fans was to establish Bud Walton Arena as a feared home court advantage and that he did! Going into their game against the Florida Gators, Arkansas was 29-4 at home under Anderson.
Coming off the bench, sophomore B.J. Young, led the way for Arkansas with 13 points Marshawn Powell and Michael Qualls both finished with 11 points respectively. The Razorbacks had their largest lead at 23 as the Hogs routed the Gators to a 80-69 decision.
Arkansas allowed Florida to shoot 44% from the field but forced 16 Gator turnovers in the win.
