Week 4 SEC Power Rankings:
1. Alabama W 62-7 vs Ole Miss
Next Game: vs Texas A&M
Alabama allowed the first play of the ball game to be a touchdown for Ole Miss but after that, the Crimson Tide rolled over the Rebels similar to last season. This week Alabama takes on a game Texas A&M team who almost upset the second ranked Clemson Tigers week 2. Alabama’s offense is explosive and should only get better throughout the season.
2. Georgia W 49-7 vs MTSU
Next Game: @Missouri
If you are looking for a team that has been very good and looks to compete with Alabama for the SEC Championship, look no further than the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia takes the road to Columbia, MO for their second SEC road game of the season. The only question is, will Mizzou be able to challenge the Bulldogs more than the Gamecocks did two weeks ago?
3. LSU W 22-21 @Auburn
Next Game: vs Louisiana Tech
Not one member game the LSU Tigers a chance in their game this past week against Auburn. For much of the game, Auburn seemingly was in control to win their SEC opener. Ed Orgeron put the ball in quarterback Joe Burrow’s hands and he delivered his first signature win as a Tiger. The joke is no longer on Ed Orgeron as this was his third victory over a top 10 foe since becoming head coach.
4. Texas A&M W 48-10 vs ULM
Next Game: @Alabama
SEC fans can say what they want, but this has been an impressive 2-1 start for the Aggies. With the Aggies pushing around the number two team in the country two weeks ago, look for A&M to be motivated to play at Bryant-Denney Stadium Saturday. Jimbo Fisher will have his players ready for this game.
5. Auburn L 22-21 vs LSU
Next Game: vs Arkansas
Maybe the Tigers are ranked too high after losing against LSU but I am still a fan of the defensive front for this Auburn team. They are a very good unit and could terrorize the terrible Arkansas offensive line. Auburn will get back on track this week and next week vs Southern Miss.
6. Mississippi State W 56-10 vs Louisiana
Next Game: @Kentucky
Many of the talking heads had this Bulldog team as a dark horse to contend for a SEC West division title this season. They will face this week a feisty and hungry Kentucky team at home. The Bulldogs will be tested more than they have the first three weeks of the season.
7. Missouri W 40-37 vs Purdue
Next Game: vs Georgia
The Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the country. Winners of 9 of their last 10 games dating back to last season. Missouri was tested last week by a winless Purdue team. Drew Locke holds the key to victory if Missouri wants to beat Georgia. Locke has to play very well and have a mistake free football day in order to do so.
8. Kentucky W 48-10 vs Murray State
Next Game: vs Mississippi State
Kentucky did not let their foot off the gas after putting away Florida after a 31 year losing streak to the Gators. The Wildcats look to continue their upswing in the East and upsetting Mississippi State at home this weekend would continue their hot start.
9. Florida W 48-10 vs Colorado State
Next Game: @Tennessee
The annual who will disappoint more in the SEC East Bowl takes place this Saturday as the Gators travel to Rocky Top. This game most likely tells us who will go to a bowl game in their first season as head coach. Florida also did not take Colorado State as lightly as the Razorbacks did the week proceeding.
10. South Carolina Cancelled vs Marshall
Next Game: @Vanderbilt
11. Vanderbilt L 22-17 vs Notre Dame
Next Game: vs South Carolina
Vanderbilt went to South Bend, Indiana and pushed Notre Dame until the final minutes before losing a close game. Has head coach Derek Mason improved this squad enough to make an impact in the East? We will see this week as they face the 1-1 South Carolina Gamecocks.
12. Tennessee W 24-0 vs UTEP
Next Game: vs Florida
Want to know how to get out of the cellar of the SEC Power Rankings? Knock off Florida at home and get the Volunteer program on track.
13. Ole Miss L 62-7 vs Alabama
Next game: vs Kent State
Many people were saying Ole Miss would have a chance to upset the Crimson Tide because of their explosive offense. Their opening play went 75 yards for a touchdown and it looked for a moment Ole Miss would step toe to toe vs Alabama but the Tide put their foot down on the throat of the Rebels and never let up. Ole Miss gets a chance to get their feet back under themselves against Kent State. They better get ready fast before they have to travel to LSU the next week.
14. Arkansas L 44-17 vs North Texas
Next Game: @Auburn
Plenty has been said for the Razorbacks in the past 24 hours. On the bright side, there are many young players like Bumper Pool, Mike Woods, Scoota Harris and Connor Noland showing promise for the future of Razorback football. If they want to get better the only way to get better is recruit, recruit, recruit. It will not help this week though as their SEC road opener is against Auburn. This may not end well.
